Diana's Story

Life After graduation I went to college in Atlanta and met Kelly....we were married for 14 years and have a great son named Aaron (18)...we lived all over the world;Europe,Panama,Texas, Va. & Ga. After my divorce, I lived in NR for 3 1/2 years and attended LCCC for 2 years. I met a fabulous younger man on the internet and moved to southern Ga. After a year of commuting we married in 1998. I now have 3 full time stepchildren. They are 9, 13 & 15. We have a full house with all four; counting down until they start moving out! :o) I work at a bank where I am the assistant to the President. We are currently building a new branch and I am hoping for a nice promotion. I am involved in what seems like a million activities with the children; bowling, soccer, band, church & Special Olympics. The children & James are also in TaeKwonDo; two of them are camo belts and three of them just earned their green belts. My sister is a grandmother of 1(now 3) and is living in Florida (and getting remarried on the beach in October 06); my brother married a girl in Texas and they now have two children. My sweetheart is in the Ga. National Guard (love a man in uniform) and is a full time student; earning his degree to be a Life Flight Trauma Nurse. After the first of the year I hope to finally finish my undergraduate degree in Finance and go on for my Masters. UPDATE!! JUNE 22, 2006....I can hardly believe its been several years since I have looked at this...where does the time go? I did get that big promotion...learned to scuba...received my advanced certification and took an amazing trip to the caymans. James retired from the military and was an ER trauma nurse. BUT life has a way of saying WAKE UP...On Feb. 19, 2004 my amazing husband was killed on his way home from work. It has been a hard couple of years and I miss him everyday but we are all doing well. The kids and I have kept very busy and they are my constant source of life. Aaron is 24 now and working part time. Jamie is 21 and is in the ARMY stationed in California. Ashley is 19 and attending Valdosta State Univ majoring in Honors Biology. Bethany just turned 15 and will be in the 10th grade. I continued working for a year after James died but am now taking a break and focusing on the kids, my home and me. I have finally just started working on my degrees. I am finishing my bachelors and getting my masters in banking. I honestly am not sure how I had time for a job before as busy as I stay now. I am very involved with the local chamber of commerce and my volunteer work. We stay very busy traveling and checking out all the beaches in Florida. I am still in SW Georgia and plan on staying unless life sends me elsewhere. I tried dating again last year...what a nightmare....so I bought a dog...LOL....I would love to hear from everyone...God Bless UPDATED AGAIN 2/14/07....WOW how time flies...I now have my BS in Banking...YAY me!! The kids all are getting ready to have birthdays..they will be Aaron 25, Jamie 22, Ashley 20 and Bethany 16..How come they are getting older but not me??? LOL!! I was named Ambassador of the Year here in Lee County in November, HUGE honor...Drop me a line, I would love to hear from you all!! School I didn't date many guys from our high school. It seemed I was either dating someone from college or the workforce who had already graduated. Mrs. Dudik was my most inspirational teacher and we still keep in touch several times a year. I had the most fun in DECA and cho...Expand for more
ir. I wish I would have tried out for Rangerettes before my senior year. I also think I should have tried the band again instead of letting Mr. Z (Zipper) at the middle school discourage me. I would do high school over again in a heart beat and I would do many things differently. I have fond memories though. College After graduation, I attended Bauder Fashion College and received a diploma in Fashion Merchandising. After my divorce I went to LCCC for a couple years, did my core and started the network communications degree when I got married again and moved to sw georgia. I am currently finishing my bachelors and masters in banking through a university in Mississippi where I can complete it online. I had a blast in Atlanta my first year. TOOOOO many late nights and parties though and my grades definitely reflected that! LOL!! I met my first husband the day I arrived in Atlanta. It should be against the law to marry before 25! LOL....After my divorce I returned to Ohio and did a couple years at LCCC trying to decide what I wanted to do when I grew up. I completed my core and started working on the Network Communications curriculum when I got married the second time. I also discovered how much smarter I was when I didn't party so much! LOL. I have finished my BS in Banking.... YAY me! Workplace I have run the gamut of job descriptions over the last 25 years. As I was married to someone in the military, we traveled all over the world. It was hard to keep a job for very long but I did work here and there. In Virginia I worked at Pizza Hut and we had a blast there! I was a new mom then so I worked at night so my new baby wouldn't have to stay with any strangers. In Germany I ran a licensed daycare and also worked at the ARMED FORCES department store in Frankfurt where I ran into a former classmate one day. Small world huh? I did mostly customer service and supervisory work there. When we moved back to Ohio, I worked as a professional Nanny and had a blast with that. When I moved to Georgia, I decided I better find a job with benefits! I started tutoring math and reading to the elementary students and did some substitute teaching but then a job at the local bank came open and I grabbed it. I discovered a natural ability in the finance field and quickly moved up to the Executive Loan Administrator of three branches. I LOVED that job! I have been on a self-imposed leave of absence for the last year and will return to work in 2008....MAYBE...lol Military Although I was not in the military myself, I married a man in the Army that was stationed at Ft. McPherson in Atlanta. We traveled from Atlanta to Panama to Virginia to Frankfurt to Ohio to Texas. I absolutely loved the new places...getting to know the local cultures...making new lifelong friends and occasionally running into folks from NR!! After my divorce in 1995, I moved back to Ohio. In 1997 with this new fad called America Online, I met a charming man from SW Georgia. After many chats, LONG telephone calls, monthly flights between Ohio & Georgia, I moved back to Georgia and married him. I did not know at first he was also a military man and by the time I found out, I was hooked. He was previously in the Army but was a full-time National Guardsman. He retired 3 months before he was killed but he had gone back to college himself and was an emergency room trauma nurse. So although I was never an active duty military member, I did my time in the service! LOL
