Diana's Story

Life My life started out pretty rocky.I went to a foster home in 1990.Coldwater KS is where I landed.I met Trent there and we Married, Had a son, went to college(not in that order).Life was still not what I wanted and I was pretty depressed.I then opened the door to Jesus and became saved. It changed me.I love my family more than I ever though possible.I love my job and can give so much more than I ever imagined as a christian.I am not perfect but do what I can to make life around me worth living. My husband is a Comanche Co sherrif and I work for SCKSEC.My son is an A student and I am shocked considering my school background. He loves school and is in more extra curricular activities than you can count.I couldn't be better right now and I lend all the credit to the Lord. I hope all who read this will contact me and want to know more about how different my life is now compared to how it was then.Time has a funny way of healing things, all the pain and suffering I went through in school seems to be a faint memory not even worth mentioning. In fact I am thankful for the pain of the past because it has made me a better person.I have so many friends now that I would have never made if I didn't have the benefit of knowing how not to treat them through experience.I have so many activities going on all the time it is hard to tell about all of them. Some things I have accomplished:Guitar,Stained glass window making, quilting, sewing, needlework of all kinds, ect....I am a very active mother in all of Brett's activities.I love to play guitar and sing in church.I am getting ready to go to church camp soon with the kids if my back permits.I had back surgery in 2000, march 7th to be exact, the day before my husbands birthday. I am also looking forward to vacation bible school not to mention my summer vacation from school. Our classroom consists of about 26 special needs students. Some severe disability, others behavioral.I love my kids so much. They are so great.Expecially the fifth graders. My house is always full of kids.If they are not here for guitar lessons, they are here just to visit. Most of them older than 6th grade because of youth group.I help sponser youth group with 2 other ladies. My son Brett is 11 and has his friends over all the time.We own a house in Coldwater and have plenty of room for sleepovers. We have 5 bedrooms, 2 bath, 2 kitchens. We are redoing the family room downstairs as we speak.I have a family room and den that will soon be combined into a parlor/music room.It is upstairs. My husband, Trent, just finished 14 weeks at the police acadamy last year and has been working for the sheriff's office full time since then.I am very proud of him and I consider myself very blessed. He is a very kind and patient person to put up with me.I know I am a dreamer and I am constantly working up scemes and adventures for us to partake in.He just smiles and shakes his head.(very, very patiently)I am very happy and very blessed in my life.I guess God is making up for lost time. School I can not count on one hand how many schools I went to over a course of 12 years. I went to 4 different high schools my senior year. Great Bend, Larned, Macksville, Coldwater. Macksville was pur...Expand for more
e hell! Larned was one big big party. Great Bend was too big. I just blended in with the crowd. Coldwater was awesome! Lots of cool teachers, very little attitude from the kids. Everyone here was like one big happy family. The one perk about going to so many schools is that I can find someone I know no matter where I go and I learned how to adjust quickly. I also went to 7 different proms over the 4 years I was in high school. Some filled with good memories(Coldwater Prom dancing with my now husband all night even though I had a different date to prom.)Some really sucked(an infamous picture with a real nerd at Macksville prom.)Over all, school was a painful experience. From constantly beating up the bullies to Teachers who knew you as nothing else but "woman". If I had to do it again, I would have been bolder and I would have definetly insisted on more just treatment. I would have also Told Mr. Broadfoot how much I loved him and that I wished at the time that I was his daughter. I would have told a couple of teachers off. If all teachers could be like Mr. Snyder from Larned, Mrs. O hair from Coldwater, Mr. Broadfoot and Mrs. Johnson from Macksville, The world would be a much better place and everyone would have a much better outlook on life. Love you guys! College College was great. I was on the Deans honor role with incredible grades. I majored in art ed. and I studied under Linda Ganstrom,Steve Dudek,Gene Wineland and Marsha Sharack.(pardon the spelling)Loved every minute of it. I had a few of my pen and ink pieces published and I learned alot about different techniques that I use all the time for art therapy with my children I work with at school. I wish that I could put other pictures on this web site. If I could I would create a mini Art galery to show. Workplace I started out working at Sunflower Diversified as a job coach after my son turned 4(pre-school age). Then, through my experience there, I landed this great job with SCKSEC and I have been loving it every since. It is the most rewarding thing I have ever experienced(next to God and family life). I love the children and making a difference in the eyes of a child is everything to me. I really think that this has always been my true gift. My love for children has helped me teach some of the most difficult lessons in life. My children walk away better people because of me. I am truly blessed. I work with a classroom of about 24/26 students depending on the days. I work with children of all different learning abilities. Some are severly disabled and some have really bad behavioral issues. Some of my children just learn a little differently than the average Joe and it really pleases me to help them in a way that not everyone can. I always new that God granted me a unique gift and this job just so happens to let me use every aspect of it. Most of our children are inclusive and I spend alot of time in other classrooms with them. Every one of my children have incredible talents in one way or another. I help encourage and bring that out in each and every one of them. I am right where I need to be. I never thought I would be at this point, but here I am and am glad of that.
