Diana's Story
Life plus Update toward bottom:
Where to start? 1st-I didn't go to school in Palmyra. I was trying to find some old friends there and found when doing so..I registered there..I went to Sodus Central High. I have been married for 31 yrs to Jim. We have a combined family of 8 children including 2 "Kims" and a set of boy/girl twins(the youngest at 30 yrs). We have 25 grandchildren & 5 Gr.grands. My husband and I are soulmates, having lived a PARALELL life till we met. It's spooky, the similarity that we shared before--our families, our schooling (including our school colors), our type of employment job titles, everything..even in our 3 marriages each and offspring from them. Email me I can elaborate if your interested..it is a story for BEYOND BELIEF TV. I've worked in the auto industry for 20 yrs, I also a FLORAL DESIGNER for 14yrs, drove truck, 18 wheeler for 3yrs (till I had twins). I enjoy everything creative. I do wood carving, float designing, lots of artwork, tee shirt painting, and anything working with my hands.
UPDATE...
Most recently..Jan. 2010, I am a survivor of 13 months! I was diagnosed Dec.2009 with invasive breast cancer...Those who remember me this will make sense-I've always said "I knew 'those big things' would get me in trouble some day, I just didn't count on that!....lol
Seriously though, I went though surgery-still have 2, went through Chemo without any complications or illness for which I feel extraordinarily fortunate!! the 8 rounds of chemo ended early June'09 just in time for our annual Relay for Life! Then started and completed my radiation by Aug 3, 09. Currently, I'm now 'giving back' to my friends and supporters as the Entertainment Chair for our Relay for Life 2010 and I'm having a blast doing it.
I miss the snow back home, nuts huh?..2 seasons only in California-wet n cold or hot n dry..it just doesn't cut it...but as a Winter OLYMPIC year. Our event theme is off season-winter in June..with winter sport events without...Expand for more
snow..little twist to the events make it WINTERY-ISH??.. but lots of fun for all ages...LOL.
...I do feel older but like the Kenny C. and Dave M.' song says "I'm Alive"..."and doing well"...all the lyrics say it perfectly.
Prior to and during all the above... with my kids grown now,I miss doing homecoming & Halloween ...look for my photos to post soon..., SOOo.. I've designed/help build/costume/participate with entries in some of the local parades..TAKING HOME-1st place for 2yrs now... to help raise awareness for Relay for Life & our free education, information, and assistance for those with Cancer (All kinds) & guidance n support for their families...Through fundraising....Ending with OUR FUN 24 hr. Relay campout at the Ukiah High School track in June...WE ARE ALWAYS LOOKING FOR MORE TEAMS & welcome CONTRIBUTIONS.... If you have ever been involved with a Relay in your area you know how beautiful the LUMINARIA ceremony can be! A luminary bag bearing the name & any sentiment honoring someone you know or knew touched by Cancer. It is an amazing & awesome site, as little one dollar can be enough to have a luminaria bag with a lit candle glowing inside all night long! This can be done on line. I will be happy to forward info as available...Just email me.... Feb. is our Kick off month so we are just getting started online for 2010 event...
I feel too many people, of all ages that are affected by this terrible illness and I feel so blessed to still be here to help fight back the big C for & with others. I faught, so did my husband-he is a 3 1/2 yr. survivor..
My best to all...drop me a line..I'll do my best to get back to you...you may have to jog my memory..LOL... OR(possibly reconstruct my memory, who's who isn't as sharp as I think it should be some days)...we are all in same boat kiddos...or you soon will be...LOL who ever said getting older is not for the faint of heart, sure hit the nail on the head! To be 30 and know what I know now....HMMMMmmm
