Diane's Story
Life
RN degree--Married George Liptak (1953 Victory graduate) in 1960---moved here from Clarksburg in 1967. We have 2 Daughters & 2 Sons--Lisa lives in Durbin,WV--Beth in Atlanta,GA--David in Dayton,OH & Mike in Richmond,VA. They blessed us with 7 grandchildren--(2 grandsons & 5 granddaughters) all ages 11 & under. Lisa is a Rec. Therapist, Beth a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, David is an Enginering/Physicist at Wright Pat AFB & Mike an ATF Special Agent. Since George & I are retired now, we just kick back & miss our kids & grandkids as they all live too far away. But we have our dog & cat to spoil. We have several grandogs & grandcats so it's pretty hectic the few times they all can come home at the same time for a visit.
Entire family flew to Seattle for a family Reunion 9/8,2001. Stayed at B&B David rented, (he lived there then) then the tragedy happened on 9/11. Mike was the only one who couldn't go as his new job with ATF started in Aug/01. They sent him immediatly to the Pentagon. (I was petrified). It put a damper on the reunion but the 6 little ones kept us from being glued to the TV. We all made it back safely on 9/16 on different flights--Thank God. But I sure enjoyed having my family & all 6 grandbabies together at one ...Expand for more
time. Mike's 4 yr old son wasn't in the picture at that time.
Mike rented condos for family in Vail ,CO in Sept. 2003 (Awesome). Everyone had a ball & again I had all grandbabies together except for Mike's new son born March/04/2004(well, he was in utero so I guess that counts)--George is really happy to have a grandson with the Liptak name (Men!)-our other grandson belongs to Beth.
Note: George & I will have our 48th Anniversary on Oct. 22nd, 2008. Hard to believe!! Time just marches on.
We live in the beautiful Mountains of Pocahontas Co. near NRAO (National Radio Astronomy Observatory) where he used to work before retiring. Winters can be rough on the mountain traveling & more often than not, you can't get there from here. But fall is beautiful.
Brenda Felton Williams (1958 grad) is my one & only sibling & lives just down the hill. She also happens to be my very best friend. But I don't tell her that. (maybe she already knows). She has 2 Sons & 4 grandchildren. We share. We lost our mom (age 87) in Aug/05 so were still trying to cope without her.
