e National Court Reporters Association's Certificate of Proficiency, which entitled me to use Registered Professional Reporter [RPR] after my name. I then was associated with Biggs and Cheshire Court Reporters in Norfolk for 10 years as a freelance court reporter, after which I became co-owner of Commonwealth Reporting Services in Norfolk, where I was employed for 10 years. After 21 years freelancing, I was offered and accepted a position in U.S. District Court in Norfolk, VA, as an official United States court reporter reporting all proceedings held before the Honorable Henry Coke Morgan, Jr., as well as other U.S. District judges and magistrate judges.
In Dec 2003, I accepted the position of Court Record Manager at the College of William & Mary Law School in Williamsburg, Virginia. During my career as a registered professional reporter, I pursued further education by enrollment in the University of Alabama's External Degree Program where I traveled abroad in 1994 and 1996 studying art. Then in 1992, I obtained the National Court Reporters Association's Certified Realtime Reporter [CRR] certificate. From 1988-1990, I served as president of the Virginia Court Reporters Association, having previously served as treasurer, vice-president, president-elect, and was awarded the prestigious Frank G. In 2014, I retired from the College of William & Mary's Center for Legal and Court Technology.
