Diane's Story

Life I have 1 husband, 4 kids and 1 cat and a very small dog. Our cat weighs more than the dog. We did have a fish but it died. No more fishies for us. They don't like being hugged...um seriously we didn't actually hug the fish. It died from other causes...probably from being taken out of it's natural habitat and into our unnatural one...grins. Well, that's it for now. School There isn't much I can do about my history, but I can make a difference in my childrens' lives, and that means staying in one area until they have graduated. I had no confidence in high school and am glad those years are over. I tended to be shy and self conscious. I wish things had been differently but, then again it is those things that have made me who I am today, thus I have no regrets. I do wish I had stayed in touch with some people though, as I often wonder how they are doing. Okay, next chapter, I am leaving the above alone as I wrote that over a year ago. I attended three high schools. One in WA where I graduated, one in CA and one in Idaho. The one in Idaho I attended for my sophomore and junior years and got to know the people there the best. After high school I worked at McDonald's, then moved to Louisiana to live with my sister. After two years there I joined the Air Force. That lasted for not quite two years. I was then given a medical discharge. I moved to WA, I worked, took one semester of college and also did a vocational course in cosmetology which I did get licensed but sucked at it so never really did it and let my license go. I got married and had four kids. I have been married for 21 years. It has had its ups and downs. My oldest daughter will be getting married this January. She is too young! LOL. Currently I homeschool my son who has asperger's syndrome. I have two younger daughters who are doing their schooling at home but with k12dotcom. This i...Expand for more
s a public school done at home. This is my first year doing this. My youngest I home schooled but my 13 yr old went to public school until the end of fifth grade. Last year we homeschooled her as she desired it. This year it is different and she loves it even more. My childhood was a mixture of good and bad, of some abuse...or a lot and also lots of laughter on occasions and love. I also have battled my personal demons regarding mental illness, primarily depression. I am now doing great and am not on any medication but then I am fortunate to not have something that requires medication such as schizophrenia or bipolar. I do have a child and also a nephew that have been diagnosed with bipolar. Thus far, I also have two neurotypical kids. Having kids really grows one up, for me it probably cured my immaturity...lol. Well, at this time of my life, I was working in a nursing home as a certified nursing assistant. But, I am taking this year off to do the schooling thing with my kids. It is my goal to eventually get to college and take the nursing program they offer for more money than I can currently afford. While we are continuously broke as our money barely covers the minimum, I am having a blast being at home. And the tighter budget is not such a bad thing except well when we want things. Oh well, delayed gratification eh? I hopefully can stay home next year as well, with the exception of a temporary job in late spring, early summer I can manage to be with my kids for a couple of years and then maybe college for me? We will see. Also, I attend church, somewhat irregularly. I used to attend every Sunday, now it is hit and miss. But for a while I didn't go at all. Anyhow my faith is very important to me. It is what gets me through life at its toughest and helps me to laugh. Well, that is all for now. Perhaps I will write more in a yr or two.
