Diane's Story

Life Grew up in mid-west but family moved east near Phila. when a senior at Iowa. Taught third grade two years in Cherry Hill where family had moved to...then left to get Masters full time. Ended up back in Cherry Hill because they were hiring elementary guidance counselors suddenly that year. Was a counselor for the next 25 years or so at Barclay (closed)then Kingston and Knight elementary schools. Helped introduce peer mediation into schools before retiring with husband Joe to Florida in 1997--near Tampa. Currently play tennis, bad at golf, volunteer as community mediator and at church food bank. Have been several board positi...Expand for more
ons in Apollo Beach Woman's Club. Active member of local Beta Sigma Phi sorority. Love to travel--one wonderful cruise lasted 72 days from FL to Rome going west. But that was before 9/11 and will probably never happen again. Otherwise enjoy trips involving sisters and Mother who is now 86 in Marlton, N.J.--last Sept. visited cousins in Germany. Bought a sailboat last winter and do some weekend trips with local friends--reminds me of Girl Scout Mariner days in Wilmette while at New Trier. Before moving south made many friends at Great Oak Marina on eastern shore of Chesapeake--on a 1979 Mainship trawler. I am still more a social than a studious person! Almost 60 years old now and still planning on having fun the rest of my life.
