Diane's Story
Life
After high school, I went to Pillsbury College in Owatonna, My boyfriend Mike went to Missouri to college. We broke up. I was at Pillsbury for 4 years - off and on. I went to work at Howard Johnson's Motor Lodge, then found a full time job at Travelers Insurance Company for 14 years. They did some cost-cutting, and I was laid off. I worked temp jobs all summer, found a part time job with First Security Title (now Burnet Title) and I also baby-sat and worked at Frank's Nursery and Crafts. I went full time at First Security the following January. I worked there until 1996, went to Edina Realty Title, and have been there for 11 years. I work in the production department of Edina Realty Title- as a title typist. I help with sending out commitments and abstracts. I enjoy what I do. I also enjoy the people I work with.
I live with my mom and my older brother Dave in a house in South Minneapolis. We have been there since 1990. Mom is getting up there in years, at 84 she is not doing much. She fell about a year ago and broke ...Expand for more
her hip, and she also had a compression fracture. I have been caregiver since then. Dave is going in for his 2nd knee surgery - this one on his right knee. he had the left done in August. He has been on disability thru the VA since August. He wants to get back to work as soon as he can.
During my off hours of taking care of her, I like to read, watch movies and try and get together with some of my friends, go to movies and just have some fun. I work at church with the 3rd through 5th grade kids on Sunday night in Awana. That has been fun. I meet a lot of nice people there, learn to deal with kids who have learning disabilities and some who are very good at memorizing. it's also a good chance to interact with the other adults in my group, but also the parents of the children I work with.
2018
I moved to San Diego 5 years ago and live with my sister and her husband. I am now retired.
My mom passed away in 2010. Dave now lives alone. My other brother Jim is married and has 2 sons, both are married. Curt has a 4 year old son.
