Diane's Story
Life
I joined the Army in 2003. It was supposed to be a hobby-type thing, so I enlisted with the reserves. I had every intention of returning to NM and doing my same job in shipping/receiving at Goodrich Aerospace, but that's not how things worked out. My military training was to be an x-ray tech and I enjoyed it so much that I decided to make a career out of it. I was at Ft Jackson, SC for 10 weeks for basic training, then I went to Ft Sam Houston, TX for about 28 weeks for the academy...Expand for more
type training to be an x-ray tech. From there I went to Ft Lewis, WA for the OJT part of my training. I loved WA so much that I decided to stay here. It is so beautiful up here. I love the rain. Most people hate it here because of the rain, but that was one of my biggest factors in staying. I work as a civilian at an Army Med Center. It felt great to get out of NM.
