Dianna's Story
Life
Whew! What a year! I've survived cancer....again!...and found a few old friends in the mix...and coughed and cried!
My dear friend Nancy Meloy-Griffin just left my temporary home here in Alabama, and I'm quite sure my chances of quality recovery have been renewed because of her!
I don't know that I'll be in KC in June which will disappoint Rick Lamar I know, but I'll try. Heck of a weight and hair loss program, you know.
Life has been great in general, though. I've been blessed and worked hard at the same time. I've seen most of this great country and a few others, through work locations and on two or four wheels. Loved a good man (or two or ...) and kept my sense of humor (most important).
These brown eyes may have creased frames around them now, but the brightness has never dimmed, nor the love of being a part of it all...God's great universe.
If it's true we choose to return to earth, then I must say the only regret/request would be to be taller next time.
Reaching the peddles has been a challenge.
Go Away Closer
The world is filled with friends, lovers and strangers,
So we are never quite sure,
Which is which
Even a best friend,
Or dearest lover,
Sometimes even after many, many years,
Can turn out to be just a cleverly disguised stranger.
Hence, A certain caution is necessary
An ambiguity,
Which renders most of our relationships
More human and less divine.
But love and trust do apparently exist!
I, for one, have never publicly denied their existance.
Some say I'm a skeptic, but I prefer to think of myself as a realist.

l bad,
In fact, life is not all anything except it is all life.
School
My first love was Jeff Ochs and his beautiful blue eyes that go on forever.
Ms. Tribble was by far the most inspiring and admired teacher for my part, and I hope her life has been showered with gifts and adventure.
Best class....Auto Mechanics with big Dan as my partner/teacher.
College
Though my dream of being a professional dancer died hard, and engineering school turned out to be a more practical choice, I still think dance (if only in the living room) is the life skill and lesson that is most essential for success. Discipline, yes....Grace...maybe not so much. Joy...definitely.
My early college heartbreak, M. Haldiman, shaped my expectations I suppose, as to what a man could be counted on for or not. But we change our wants and needs as we go, if we are wise, yes?
You can always tell the engineering students at any school. They are the ones in the library on Friday night. Ruined my eyesight, but it's been worth it. Not a glamorous career, but a reliable one, and a fascinating field of study...a life study. I chose Mechanical, because it was the easiest...for me.
Now that I'm older, I would love to return to school for a strictly intristic, liberal arts studies. Just to be in the halls of learning make one feel more at peace. I could have been a lifetime student, with no regret having missed the working world.
Workplace
My mechanical engineering opportunities have kept me mobile from nuclear plant sites across the country. MO, NY, IL, NC, VA, TX, CO, CA, PA and Alabama....
Piping, pumps and valves....love it!
