Dianne's Story
Born in Nova Scotia. Raised in Oak Ridges. Attended Our Lady of the Annunciation in Oak Ridges and St. Mary's in Richmond Hill. My High School was G.W. Williams in Aurora.
Did some fun things while finding my way, worked in a hairdressers one year and for the Argos one summer. From there it was mostly office work and accounting. Got married in 65 and had one daughter in 72. Separated in 83 remarried in 89 to Mr Milne. Brings to mind the song "Your Cheating Heart". Divorced in 90? Put my mind to working and moving on. Went back to school in my early 50's and got to go to work for one of the Magna Companies called Innovative Cooling Dynamics. A win win. My senority number was 25. I spent my last ten years of my working life with them and aside from the stress I loved the company. ortant for me; since retiring I've put it to good use.
I took early retirement and moved North. Since then I have joined the Silver Threads Choir and we entertain for Seniors' residences and nursing homes. We also entertain at car shows and Churches. This fun group has been going strong for over 20 years. We sing everything from the 20's up to the 60;s and now that my generation is coming on board we are even starting to sing some of the 70' and 80's.
I served for two years as President of the Durham Seniors. Sat on the Board of Abbeyfield Durham for years and preseently help out a few hours a week. Abbeyfield is totally run by volunteers.
My parents are both gone. Brother Charles passed away at age 58. Vaughn is doing well and living in Keswick.
I'm still single, no grandchildren.
I live simply, drive an Echo.
Have two aged cats and a Cocker Spaniel called Papu.
I'm thinking of moving back to Aurora/Newmarket in the next couple of years but presently just mulling it over.
