Dick's Story
After graduating in the top 90% of my high school class, I then attended Junior College in Kansas City. Not knowing what I had in mind as a career (did you get the 'top 90%'?), the Dean suggested that I enter the Business curriculum. however at the end of the '56 school year I looked at a bulletin board which had an article about a California Aerospace company had hired the entire graduating engineering school class at Purdue for great salaries. This was a turning point for me, so I promptly entered the pre-engineering course at Jr. College and finally graduated in 1958. The next year I started at KU and enrolled in the Electrical Engineering ...Expand for more
course of study. After that year, I became unenthralled with KU, and transferred to MU, glad that I did and graduated in June 1961. At KU, I met the girl I would later marry, Barbarra Wendel, and amazingly she also transferred to MU an also graduated in 1961, We were married shortly after that and moved back to the Kansas City area where we were both from. We have lived in Raytown and Independence since then and will celebrate 49th year anniversary soon. I retired from Lipton in 1991 and then went to work for the US Dept. of Energy and finally retired from there in November of 1997. Good grief! That's going to be 13 years in a few months
