Wm. Dickson's Story
Life
I go by Dickson, my middle name.
You can check out my profile on Facebook, too! I'd love to get some more friends there!
You probably noticed the picture... Huey is our little puppy, about 1 year and 2 months old as of November 2007. We picked him up out of the street after he ran in front of our car. He's a good dog and a recent graduate of PetSmart's Beginner Training Class. We haven't quite figured out what breeds he's made of. We are thinking about doing a DNA test on him, if you can believe it!
I got married in October '04 to Carmen Lueras from Anchorage, AK. Carmen moved down in to live with me in Columbia, SC in August '05, and we made a move to San Antonio in June '06. I enjoyed my time in South Carolina... been able to see my family and all, but didn't make it to Charleston as much as I wanted. We love San Antonio, and will be buying a house here sometime next spring.
My brother, Brian and his wife, Elizabeth, are in the middle part of the country, too, as Brian has joined the AWACS community at Tinker AFB in Oklahoma City as a navigator.
I found a job about three buildings down from where I was working at Randolph AFB. I'm in the reserves, too, so my military career continues, though down a little different path.

School
I suppose I had a good life at school... though I was a bit oblivious to events happening around me (and still am to some extent). I realize I had many choices to make. Some I wish I had made differently... but it all turned out all right, really.
Wow, that sounds a bit... well, detached. I really did enjoy high school and had a good time with people...Expand for more
. I had some really good experiences there and I wouldn't give up the experiences I had (or the friends I had them with) for anything! Of course, distance and time have changed those friendships. But I remember being with good people in high school, and that really made all the difference.
College
College? The only thing this school had in common in college was the degree, and even that was different; no one in their right mind would call this college. I appreciate the experience, though... it taught me a lot of things I wouldn't have learned anywhere else. Of course, I've had a lot of catching up to do on some other stuff (like how to pay bills)... and I've got to quit telling those "band camp" stories :-)
Workplace
So I now have a workpace. I work for ManTech Security and Mission Assurance, a business unit of ManTech International. I'm supporting the Air Education and Training Command as a program security officer. It's mainly a paperwork and staff job at Randolph AFB, but I think I'll find it challenging enough for a while.
Military
Well, I guess I've grown up -- sort of.
I'm now out of the military, after having served a little over 8 years. I'm still in the reserves, so if you see me in a uniform someday don't think that I'm just reliving the glory days.
The best part of the military has really been the traveling. I've been to some pretty interesting places: Turkey, Great Britain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Alaska. But we've decided it's time to settle down. Carmen doesn't like the military life at all, except for those commissary and gym benefits. So we're going to stay in San Antonio a while.
