Ok-dokay--- Married 55 years on Sept 12, '25 …..no kids, retired sept. 9, 2011......for good this time! :)
It’s official…… I now live with a 70 year old, and guess what….. I get to still live with this little girl that has that cool teenager 15 year old laugh ……
For those that knew both me and Yvonne (Torrance High Brat) from high school and thought we would never make it together.....yep, that is Yvonne in the photos . (We’ve been together for 58 years ........since September. 1967.
(Caught, couple folks asked about me going to Torrance High, yep I did ….’68-‘69. Guess that makes me a “brat” heh-heh…. Nah, it was fun going to THS, met some really cool people and will connect with ‘em at wife’s 50+2 reunion)
Looking at the amount of visitors and I have wrote to a couple of you, but no reply, guess that is what is b a d about this place. If you are interested in touching base, give a buzz at "dick at iwebhog com".
wow, just a flash as I was updating this.... I've known a lot of classmates since the 3rd grade at Carson Street School, then we moved on to Stephen M White and finally Carson High...... we've known each other more than a lifetime.......
Was a blast seeing those at the 50th reunion...... wife’s has been pushed back to 2022 because of COVID-19. (Don’t like seeing that happen, at our age, classmates are passing more and more)
Next milestone...... big seven oh....... 1/2 yr away......
Well……. 70 came and went and the mind still thinks I’m 20….HA…
pass couple days scanning wife’s ‘70 Torrance High Yearbook, will be doing for her 50th plus 2 class reunion that was postponed to 2021 and now this year and now will be April 30th, 2022 what I did for my 50th class reunion. Making collages of all her classmates and creating a slideshow of her yearbook……
She’s excited about going to the 50th…… as I’m sure close to 500 kids in her class are…
9/12/22 Hope your adventure through life has the very best experience you can have, with the memories makes it just that much more enjoyable……

9/12/23 A forever song that the wife and I love, I relate more to the song as my wife was/is my first love, we were 15 & 16 when we met….sure I was with girls but never once asked any to go steady. I love all first love stories but think ours is the best. I went to Carson High, so a buddy and I would cruise Carson High after school, then we thought, we should go cruise Torrance High School, that school was known for really cute girls ( not that Carson didn’t have cute girls) so we headed for Torrance High, cruised 1 ti...Expand for more
me and saw 3 girls walking home, now my buddy had a ‘49 studebaker painted lime green (his dad owned a body/paint shop) and Dean wanted a color that would get noticed, told Dean to slow down, and stop, I hopped out, held the door open and asked the girls if they’d like a ride home….they took about 20 seconds to decide after looking at the car and us 2….. i immediately saw the deepest blue eyes I have even seen in one of the girls. The girls said sure we’d like a ride. The car was a two door, so I held the front seat open and the girl with those eyes got in first, then the other two girls. Dean asked where too, the last girl that got in said follow this street to the stop sign…. I was sitting shotgun and put my arm on the back of the seat, couldn’t take my eyes off the girl with those beautiful eyes and smile…. I introduced myself and Dean, since I was already staring at the girl with the great smile, she said, I’m Yvonne, this is Josie and that’s Gail…. We did the small talk about the beach, songs and cars with some few funny things and then I heard Yvonne laugh, oh my God , I love her laugh, couldn’t keep my eyes off Yvonne the whole time taking them home. Yvonne and Gail lived across the street from each other….so, now I know where Yvonne lives, we drop both girls off, say our goodbyes and take Josie home, she got in the front seat between me & Dean since she had to get out of the car to let Yvonne get out, Dean flirting with her the whole time…
Since I knew where Yvonne lived, right after school the next day I went to her house telling myself her name is Yvonne, it’s Yvonne…..walking up the walkway to the front, kept saying her name over and over, knocked on the door and a girl answered and said can I help you, I froze for a couple seconds then pointed to her and said “do you have a sister?” (I forgot Yvonne’s name) the girl yelled “Yvonne it’s for you” (I was so glad she said Yvonne) Yvonne came to the door and said I know you, Dickey right? She asked me in, we sat in the den for about 5 minutes and asked if I’d like a sandwich…. The rest is history, 58 years together and 55 years married to 9-12-25 …God, I love that girl….. I knew from that day I met her, she was the one…. My first love… our “Young Love” (by Sonny James)
Oh, by the way, that first sandwich was on toasted bread with ham, cheese, lettuce and tomato…. Still get my sandwiches made like that…..
9/15/23, just realized that Nick Ortiz went to Torrance High too, I knew it, as we’d cruise around in his ‘65 Malibu…just forgot. Strange that he and I ended up at Torrance…
