Dieter's Story
I am very thankful for my opportunities at and after SHS. These include finding a super wife, 2 wonderful sons, and a very satisfying career.
The career after OSU and the Navy was with the US Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) in research, aquatic habitat protection, and management/policy. I was able to suggest to a congressman the idea of special legislation for the Great Lakes and provided some of its language. This resulted in a new dedicated office in Buffalo, with me as FWS Chief for Lakes Erie and Ontario.

int the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission as their Director, InterStates Fisheries Management Program.
For now and the future I hope to continue to enjoy life with my wife in western New York (Canandaigua and Penn Yan), interactions with the families of our 2 sons and 4 grandchildren, friends, travel, reading, and getting stressed-out over environmental issues.
