Dimitra's Story

Life 2006 I've lived in Cinti. since l968 and have two children. I became a widow the fall of 2003. I've attended opera and the playhouse theater for several years. Cincinnati is known for its fine arts. Approx. l5 years ago John and I took up the game of croquet. Country club croquet not the backyard game. We spent a week in Bermuda taking lessons and have traveled all over the country to play tn tournaments. I've received recognition from the community for my gardens.. My community (Wyoming) is known for its fine schools. In fact," Newsweek Magazine and US News Report" rated our schools 8th best in the country four or five years ago. However, we were dropped to 50th last year and now in 2006 we're 80th. Not long ago we were recognized for being the prettiest painted community in the country. I think you can tell I'm proud of my Wyoming community. Sept '04, I had surgery for a brain aneurysm. The surgery went beautifully, but six hours later I had a stroke that has affected my leftside. I'm doing quite well, considering the circumstances. I have a partime aid (12 hrs. a week) who is just great. I was involved in volunteering until my surgery. I spent approx. 8 years at an outdoor museum of 19th century buildings, giving tours of the buildings and telling of the lifestyles during that period in southwest Ohio. I was treasurer of S.C.O.R.E for three or four years. I gave 8 hours a week to a non-profit that helped the working poor obtain housing. I was their bookkeeper for three years. ountry club living development. I've come a long ways the past two years. I use a walker often when dining out etc. I am walking a half mile on my treadmill. Since I've downsized I can handle most of the daily tasks. Here we have many social activities planned for us each month. I'm able to play as much bridge as I wish. There's a very active singles group made up of 50 women and 4 or 5 men. Typical, you say? Yes, many more widows than widowers. I've remained in touch with many dear friends of the past. Altho it's been many years we are srill able to communicate as we did before. It's time standing still. John was general manager of the marine/industrial jet engine dept. at G.E. Heavy foreign travel was involved and I was fortunate in being able to travel with him many times. Ive been to 16 or more countries many more than once, so thought I was pretty worldly until I met my new neighbors. Find out I'm only a novice when it comes to foreign travell. I've recently learned that Tom Moore of '57 is a coach with the Colts. I'm impressed for they are one of the best teams this season. 2010 Life's still good here in OH. I've had some experience in internet dating the last couple of years. The first made such an impression that nobody could follow in his steps. It ended when he realized that the only love he'd known from 9th grade until she passed, was going to be the only woman he wanted to be in his life. We remain good friends till this day sharing frequent e-mails, but with no emotional involvement between us. The other dates wewre nice, but the chemistry wasn't there. r.
