Hi Everyone! I graduated Biggs High School in 1966 at the bottom of the class. We moved to Wheatland, Ca shortly thereafter. I went to Yuba College and dropped out right away. I took a job in Sacramento working in the dining hall at the California Highway Patrol Academy. While in Sacto I was drafted. I chose the option of 4 years in the Navy. I volunteered for submarines and went to sub school in New London/Groton, Connecticut. After completeing sub school I was stationed in Hawaii aboard the USS Blackfin, a world war 2 diesel electric submarine (I was an electrician). Our first outing was a trip to Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo, Ca. I was anti-war long before being drafted and being in the military did not sit well with me. I finally crafted a long letter to my commanding officer expressing my views and telling him I despised being in uniform - I rarely beat around the bush when I am angry. I was called in for a meeting and was immediately asked if I had ever used drugs - my answer earned me a speedy discharge to my elation! Back to Wheatland where I soon found myself married and working in a lumber mill outside of Olivehurst (a real sweat shop) Erickson Lumber Company. I became a Christian at the time. I worked there for two years and then went to a mill in Loomis, Ca. While there I went through a divorce (no children). I continued at the mill and started full time classes at Sierra Junior College in the evenings. I did that for two years and earned a two year degree. I decided to leave the mill to attend Bethany Bible College in Santa Cruz. There after three years I graduated with a double major: Bible/Theology and Elementary Education.
