Don's Story
Graduated from Southern Illinois University. Worked in the Chicago area for a year before moving to South Florida to work for the Palm Beach Post as a photojournalist. Covered the US and Latin America (El Salvador Civil war, Contra-Sandinista conflict). Was hired by Agence France-Press (the French wire service) and lived in Mexico for a short period before moving to Washington DC where I covered the politics of the Capitol plus hurricanes, disasters, the demise of foreign dictators and other amazing events & stories around the US and Latin America. Times where I did more of the same. In 1994 I got married and moved to the West Coast to work with the New York Times on a contractual basis. I still shoot photos for various publications but now work for the University of California. I have two boys. Since I no longer travel as much for work I've become a chronic vacationer. I love all kinds of outdoor activities that the west coast in known for. I'm very geeky in the technical sense which has become essential in promoting my career.
