Don's Story

Life So...what's up with "Buddy Sanders"? Well, I hate to say it, but my 7th grade teach, Bertha Beck, was right..."Buddy" was not a real name for the real world - so I had to become Don Sanders. Oddly enough, as if one name change was not enough, my career has led me into the wonderful world of public speaking of which my audiences quickly re-named me "Trainer Don". The good new is, I still answer to all three, especially when the word "Uncle" is in front of it. My sister Diana blessed me with two beautiful nephews, Aaron & Seth. Aaron married an awesome young lady, Jill. My sister Cheryl blessed me with a beautiful niece and nephew, Tracy & Travis. Tracy married a great young man, Jeff, and then they blessed me with a great niece, Alyssa, and a great nephew Grant. Travis is soon to be married to a wonderful young lady, Melissa. I blessed them back with no nieces or nephews to babysit or by Christmas/Birthday gifts for...ok, really that blessing is a selfish blessing to myself. After getting my degree in education, I quickly realized that I love children, especially if they are someone elses. I taught for 5 years after college and then realized...as much as I would love to be a "Public Servant", I love...Expand for more
money more. So, I left the education arena and move in to "Corporate America". Presently I work for a national multi-faceted investments company as a V.P. of Marketing (my minor) and Professional Development (education, still children...just more expensive toys). Additionally, I have my own interior design consulting business, G-Design (thank you Cheryl Murphy Mohr for recognizing my creative talents) and national keynote speaking consulting firm, TD & Company (thank you Virginia Harshman for cultivating my English/writing/speaking skills). Oddly enough, I also have a "Stand-Up Comedy" rotation at a comedy club in Chicago once every three months (thanks to Melba Rice & Judy Patrick who consistently appreciated my humor). I split my time between Chicago and South Beach (my true homes, sorry my little sleepy town of Bethany) and pretty much travel throughout the United States 4 days a week. I do return to Bethany once a year to celebrate Christmas (always 2 or 3 weeks before Christmas) with my family. Married & divorced (will never do that again). No children (yeah). That is my profile in a nutshell. I would love to hear from any/all of my classmates/teachers and catch up on what is going on in your life.
