Donald's Story
Hi Folks. After highschool,I went to Olean Business Institute, was in first graduating class there, same as at Walsh. Then joined the Navy and spent 5 years on active duty. In '65 I married Marlene Kwiatkowski (Class of '63). After the Navy we moved to Sharon Pa., and I worked for a while at Westinghouse Electric. Ended up back in Olean in '70 working for Acme electric in Cuba. I worked for Acme for 26 years in various position from Lab technician to VP/GM of the Transformer division in Lumberton NC. In '96 Acme and I went our seperate ways. Marlene and I with another couple purchase an Electric Sign Company near Raleigh and over an 11 year period started and bought several sign companies....Expand for more
We retired in '07.
We have 2 daughters and 3 grand sons. Our oldest daughter, Connie, is an OB/GYN and has a successful practice here in Lumerton. Patty our younger daughter teachs math and science at Lumberton High School
I'm an avid wookworker and produce many fine pieces of furniture which of course are absorbed by the daughters. I moonlight a little in woodworking, this keeps me in green fees! Also, keeps me in spending money just in case we end up at Harrahs Cherokee Casino.
Lumberton is located on I95 half way between Myrtle Beach and Pinehurst,and a mornings drive to the mountains. So we have a wide variety of recreational opportunities available to us.
