I tried to sell them on adopting statistical quality control, but they were too conservative to try, therefore they went bankrupt and were bought by some group called LingTV. I met my firsdt wife there. Also during college I worked summers at Inland Steel: chemistry mostly. 2. I was drafted into the US Navy as a Leiutenent JG. TRained atr Great Lakes near Chicago. I worded in the Hospital Corps (medical). I was transfered to Pearl Harbor, Hawii. I was attached to the submarine service as medical personnel. Crusing the Pacific was not dangerous during peacetime, except for patrols off North Korea. I was the only medical person on board ship, so I had to sew up wounds and treat personnel on patrol. 3. I worked for the Army Corps of Engineers, based out of New Orleans, as a civilian, GS 12. It was convenient, where the guns were being ran to the Nicaraguan contras. This was ...Expand for more
pretty secret, and many government officials were convicted for this program, but later pardoned by Bush who directed it (first as CIA man, and then vice-president and president. I also was the computer expert and top statistical person, now retired. 4. In Arkansas, I was eager to work for civil rights and clean elections while teaching university, I met and was drawn into William Clinton's political ambitions. I was amazed to find a progressive intelligent and ambitious candidate. I worked for Gov. Clinton from 1976 when he first ran for governor until 1985. I worked on the county level, in charge of registering and encouraging Blacks to vote. We were very successful, got big majorities in the county. I also worked as advisor to Clintons staff, sending statistical reports on our progress. He then got me a job in Little Rock for his staff (not a top job). I also worked hard for Congressional races, Presidential and Senatorial races; started a campaign and movement to reform the Democratic party in the state, successful and it won the support of Clinton; ran for State Constitutional delegate, but was outspent badly. In 1980, I campaigned for E. Kennedy for president, got selected as a delegate to the national Democratic convention. I got the know the governor and Hilary better, there and when I got publicity. He lost the race in 1980, but in 1981 called me, among others, to work for his reelection in 1982. I said of course, and we won reelection from then on. In 1984, we started a campaign to allow black students at the university to vote in our county, as county delegate I used my infuence in this successful movement and demonstration. my ACORN friend and I spuched forward a referendum to adopt city elections for alderman by district to permit all parts of the city to get representation, including the worker and black wards. We won, as I got labor black, and women (NOW) support. I was also appointed as official statisticial for the woman candidate for mayor (no pay). She won for mayor. In New Orleans, I worked for Clinton for president and Dukakis, as well as governors races, alderman, Senator. We won the state for Clinton twice, twice for the democratic race for governor, twice for Senator, all the best candidate running. We also beat David Duke: I took a week off, encouraged and joined on TV a city-wide rebuke of Duke, also advised Edwards staff to raise money among New York Jewish contributors, painted signs, put up signs, etc, anythihg to save the state from a fascist governor. 5. Minor jobs were: to teach at Washington high school two years in the 1960's, and Rhodes college in Memphis. I visited Cuba to help Castro before he won the revolt, and joined an expedition to find ancient artifacts in the Mayan jungle, but did not get rich. I did not actively demonstrate against the Vietnam war, but behind the scenes (my office roommate was). I did campaign politically in Lansing, and Detroit which was a hotbed of FBI peace spys
