Donald's Story

Life I attended Lehigh University for 1¾ years, which I left for medical reasons. 2 years later I graduated from Spring Garden College with an Associate of Science degree in Chemistry, attending S.G.C. the last two years its campus was at the Broad and Spring Garden Streets location inside Philadelphia. ¶ Worked between 1967-'69 in a Quality Control Lab at Publicker Industries, (mfgr., Paco Solvent); in S.E. Philadelphia, PA. ¶ After Publicker, I worked several "oddish" jobs including limestone assayist at the Devault, PA, quarry of the Warner Lime Company. ¶ By 1972 certain psychiatric problems I'd had since childhood caught far enough up with me to cause me to be sent ...Expand for more
to a Partial Hospitalization Program in Coatesville, PA. It took me several years to improve my condition enough to be discharged. I was discharged into employment at a co-operating business also in Coatesville. I worked at various positions inside Chester County Assn. for the Blind for more than 8 years. Not until another 9 years later did I finally realize which of my teachers had been the most influential in my life: Mr. George Carlin, my 9th-Grade Geometry teacher. He taught me Geometric Thinking--and I used more of it at the Chesco Assn f/t Blind than I ever did at General Wayne Jr. Hi, Conestoga Senior Hi, or all the OTHER jobs combined. ¶ (To Be Continued.)
