Donald's Story

Life High school was a great experience for me. I had a lot of growing up to do and especially learning to study. I had some great teachers-to me-Bert Michelson taught French and Mr Haebich English Lit. I recall a lot of fun times at York and lots of great classmates. About 5 of my friends at York are gone now and some are on the unaccounted for list. I am going to contact those I remember. Fortunately I have 2 yearbooks left--those are real treasures now. After York I went to work in Chicago commuted daily on the CNW and had a job in accounting. I went to Northwestern U evening school for 3 years and then had enough money to go to Elmhurst College a year. Then Vietnam happened and the Army wanted me but I got in the Air Force where I stayed for 6 years. The AF sent me to Oklahoma and somewhere along the way ...Expand for more
I discovered art and cartooning.Does anyone recall my cartoons? I was the editorial cartoonist for a year after service for the Oklahoma City Times. I found myself back in college at Central State University majored in Design and Marketing, graduated finally in 1973. That degree took a long time. I married in 1967, a girl from Northlake and West Leyden HS '62. We have 2 girls, 1 married and we are grandparents of 3. I took an illustrator position in Washington DC with the Dept of Transportation and stayed there 35 years. Sterling Va is a suburb of DC Now we are retired and looking for that special place to move to. I haven't made it to any reunions. I can't believe the next one will be the 50-year mark. I hope someone remembers me and will contact me.Best wishes to all of you. A website like Classmates helps.
