Donald Mouse's Story

Okay, back then (1954-1959), I was Don "Mouse" Wilson, but now I am Darryl Randall (legal change of name - 1966). Lived in Hamilton, Ontario from 1960 to 1973. Worked for Canada Post (that's the Post Office), cooked chicken for Col. Harland Sanders at 5 of his Kentucky Fried Chicken outlets, was assistant manager of the Color Your World paint and wallpaper store on Upper James Street, then manager of the Color Your World Store on Main Street East across from the Delta Secondary School. Transferred to Toronto in 1973 by Color Your World to manage their store in Rexdale at Islington Avenue and Albion Road. Jumped to The Hudson's Bay Company in 1974. Helped set up their then brand new department store in downtown Toronto at Yonge and Bloor. Tested my marketablity in 1975. Sears offered me a better pay package to join them at their Gerrard Square store, so off I went. In 1978, off I go again to Canada Post's South Central Letter Processing Plant on Eastern Avenue for 12 years. In 1990, transferred to wicket duty at the Toronto-Dominion Centre Postal Station at King and Bay, in the heart of Toronto's Financial District. Retired in 1998, age 56. Spent 34 years in Toronto, - 33 in the same apartment right downtown close to Yonge and Bloor. Mo...Expand for more
ved to Leamington, Ontario in 2006. Some of the songs I wrote, beginning at age 14, were published and were played on radio stations across Canada between 1975 and 1996. Royalty checks stopped coming in 1996. Sang some of 'em with The Rhythm Kings (Danny Szabo, Johnny Little, Glen Shea, and me) while in Caledonia High School in the late 1950's. Songs were published by Language Of Sound Music of Los Angeles, Morning Music of Mississauga (co-owned by Stompin' Tom Connors), and my own Sims Locks Music Company. Recorded for Cynda Records in the 1970's. A couple of songs, "Louella Got A Fella" and "Dapper Don Downie", did okay. Started my own label, Seneca Hill Records, and Sims Locks Music in 1981. My songs, "Yonge Street Boy" and "Every Minute Of The Hour" hit Number One in some areas, Top Ten in others. "Ruthie", a nutty little song for and about Ruthie Osbourne, with whom I attended school in Caledonia (I had crush on her) did well in Quebec. Go figure! Never married. Never even came close. Marriage is for mortals, anyway. Lived by myself all these many years. Works for me. All my brothers and sisters - Dave Wilson, Sam Wilson, Mary Murphy, Ruth Mileski, and Margaret Fowler - all retired back in the 1990's, and are all living in Hamilton, Ontario.
