Donald's Story
Life
Were to begin, I went into the US Army shortly after graduation. I was in the Army for 4 years. I was stationed in Kitzigen Germany for 2 years. Traveled around Europe every chance I had while in Germany. Have traveled to England, France, Spain, Amsterdam, and Greece. It was a real eye opening experience seeing the way others live outside of Granite City. I spent 1 1/2 years at Ft Riley Kansas. That was a pretty boring place, but while in Kansas I did go to a bar in Salina Kansas that would let you ride a live bull just like in the rodeo. Do not recommend it to anyone, really hurts, only last about 3 seconds. While in the service I married a girl from Michigan, we had 2 children, a girl and a boy. we were together for 4 years and divorced. I was left with the kids and worked to raise them myself. I have done many things since graduation. I worked for a Monster Truck racing team and traveled the USA for 3 Years, that was exciting but kept me away from my kids way to much. I have spent the last 10 years in Michigan with my new wife of 9 years and our 5 children (My 2 from previous, Her 1 from Previous and our 2 together). The kids ages are 20,16,14,6, and 4, There are 3 boys ...Expand for more
and 2 girls. I really love spending time with my children, they are all gifts from God, I have 1 son that is with the Lord and is our little Angel. His name was Dakota James Payne, we called him DJ. He passed away 7 years ago, he had a Diaphramatic Hernia, that is were the diaphram did not form in the abdomen. That was a real low point in my life and I will always remember it like it was yesterday. While in Michigan I got into racing in Figure 8 demolition derbys. I really enjoyed that, in my first race, I won my heat. I was really excited, I built a car that was the color and number that my favorite uncle had used when he raced. He passed away 8 years ago and I would run the car in memeory of him and my son DJ. In September of 2006 I moved back to GC. I now run my dads body shop and do very little besides work and spend time with my kids and wife. My 16 and 4 year old sons and I are going to build a car to race at Tri City Speedway, really into racing. The 6 yr old is not, he loves drawing and music, not cars. Love to spend time at the movies with him. Well there is alot more that I have seen and done but not time to list everything, besides dont want to bore everyone to death.
