Donna's Story
After St. Thecla, I went to Roseville High for 3.5 years and graduated from Fraser High. I went to Macomb Community College for one semester while working at a mortgage company doing appraisals. I worked the normal 9-5 and school 6-10 five days a week and lived it up on the weekends. I then moved up to Houghton Lake. I went from office work to managing a fine dinning restaurant in a small town. That was a change. I also continued and finished my schooling here. I met my husband here and we started a family. I had a jump start due to the fact he has two boys from a previous marriage. Tyler is now 18 and Zachary 14. Then we have Jonathan 12 and our newest addition, thanks to the invitro-fertilization process, Hayden who is now 3. I definately have my hands full. I sure love all of them. Get all my boys together at once and it's a mad house. I sometimes feel like I am a single mom with 5 boys. Wouldn't trade it for the world. I am currently a stay at home mom and loving it. I will get back into the rat-race when my youngest goes to school. My husband is a state trooper here in town and we also own a landscaping company. Enough to keep us busy. My biggest goal is to open a Lyme Disease Hospital so that Lyme patients have a place to go for the proper treatment they need. I am suffering from this dreadful disease. I was a very active woman who became wheelchair bound in a matter of months. I was bit by a tick 8 years ago and n...Expand for more
ever thought anything of it. I had no knowledge of the disease. Apparently, the stress of going through invitro, having the baby c-section, and then 2 months later diagnosed with cervical cancer, which needed to be treated immediately with a complete hystorectomy, took a tole on my body and triggered the dormant disease. It took some time before anyone could figure out what was wrong. I was completely immobile and dependant on others to care for me. When the liver and kidneys were failing, they finally figured it out. Thank God! It is a very hard recovery process. Physical therapy, antibiotics injected 3 times a day for 7 months, along with many other uncomfortable rituals I had to go through to get better. I am almost there. Most days I do great. The R.A is my biggest problem now. It is a secondary condition due to the lyme. So I promised God, if I were ever healed, I would do what ever I could to help others that were afflicted with this vicious illness. I have very high goals of having a hospital such as St. Jude's has for the children.
I am very much looking forward to hearing from the people I shared my elementary years with. St. Thecla and the students were a very big part of my childhood. I am curious as to what everyone is doing now and hoping everyone is happy and successful in their lives. I look forward to our chats.
Everyone, take good care and I hope to hear from you soon.
Sincerely,
Donna (Anderson) Holton
