Donna's Story
Like the rest of you from Class of '70 Somerville High, it's been a long road. I have moved many times since leaving Somerville in 1970. From Arkansas to NY to Panama City,FL to Central Fl are a few of the places I have called home. I am getting ready to move one last time God willing. I just bought a place in Delray Beach, FL so I will be closer to my Daughter who lives in Palm Beach. Twenty minutes travel sure beats four hours driving especially with her job and crazy schedule. Nope, no Grandkids, she is a workaholic and just became partners with someone for a new place with a pool at the bar and lots of function rooms at a yacht club. You can probably tell that I am very proud of her. She is a good girl with good values so I am lucky.
I have heard we may have a mini reunion in the next year or two. I was unable to make it to the 40th but hopefully the next time around will be the charm and I hope that many of you also make it there. Where has the time gone?
FYI....I go by the name Dawn most of the time. A nickname given by my Godmother and something I went back to when I needed a ...Expand for more
new beginning in life. Just in case you see me down as Dawn Donovan at least you just it's JUST ME Donna Young.
I have no idea how I am remembered by kids way back when. I was not cute or popular and hung out pretty much with the kids I started life with in the old neighborhood. I was just me back then as I am just me now. I always say I am like Popeye, I yams what I yams. I can be with millionaires or volunteer in a shelter and behave accordingly. I like to think I am low-key and I am still a bit shy though most people laugh when I say this because I can also behave like a politician and talk to almost anyone.
Most people probably say Donna WHO? All I know is that I try to do the right thing and treat others as I want to be treated. Life is too short and as the bumper sticker says....MEAN PEOPLE SUCK! I for one am sick of MEAN PEOPLE. It's hard enough out there isn't it?
Take care everyone, it seems like yesterday that we did the pep squad at football games and made our pom poms out of tissue paper I remember most of life back then as beautiful. Funny how the bad no longer matters.
