Donna's Story
“Living the Good Life!”
Finally had all of the rat race I could stand. After years at a wonderful Company like Continental Airlines, it only took a couple after the sale to United for me to put in for retirement. I wasn’t gonna be a part of the destruction of Continental’s good reputation. Sold my house in Houston, bought one in Caldwell, packed up and went back “home”. Immediate freedom and stress relief. Have been here since December, 2013.
My one gorgeous daughter bought a home in Austin, packed up and headed there due to her music 🎶. Although she’s a college graduate with a Masters, she’s also a fabulous singer and acoustic guitar player of other artists music as well as the fact that she writes her own original lyrics and music as well and I haven’t heard a bad one yet! Naw…I’m not bragging, I’m just down-right proud!😜 She loves Cowboys and Rodeo too, so I guess I taught her well!🤪
The last time I updated this I wrote that I thought “it was time for some changes”…we’ll heaven help me there have certainly been a lot! Believe it or not, think I'm living the best part of my life right now. Every day just keeps getting better and better.

I still love to take "gambles" and I make several trips a year to Vegas, Biloxi, Kinder, Lake Charles, Marksville; or anywhere the bells & whistles are going off. In 1999 I took my first cruise and realized I dearly loved taking them, now it’s hard to keep me off the water and off those Ships!!! Going to Alaska is by far my favorite…and…they DO have casinos on the Ships!!!🤗🤗🤗
I'm a life member of the HLSR; have been a working committee member since 1996, part of a couple year-long programs it's involved in and have been a lifetime committeeman now since 2011. I'm a member of the Houston Farm & Ranch Club & serve on a couple of committee's there as well. I actually served as Director for for 10 years. I'm a member of three cook-off teams & can get pretty busy with that too, depending on the time of year.
Guess I could still be considered a "hell raiser" and the rule I live by is "I'm old enough to know better, but young enough to have a heck-uv-a-time gettin' away with it"! So far, it's worked out pretty well for me!!!😉
