Donna's Story
I got married in 84 to a great guy who just left me this summer to "be alone". 25 years ... and my life is still trying to get up that great big hill of hope for a destination...I love that song ... married, 2 yrs together before that. We got married in his home town since I never had a hometown ... child of an Air Force man, you know. Two days after we got married, we moved south and then had 2 kids in 85 and 88.
In 90, we moved to maui for over three years. It was like a long vacation and to this day, my children never learned to wear shoes. My daughter wears flip flops all year long...she has about 15 pairs...and my son is barefoot when he is not working.
I went to work full time at the Probate Court where I discovered that the law was something I understood and respected. I always...during and AFTER high school, mind you...obeyed the rules and I tried to make sure my kids did, too. Now, I am a paralegal and love it. I help settle estates and stuff like that...wonderful choice for me.
My best friend would tell you that I'm crazy, funny, soft hearted and generous to a fault, but people who don't know me very well would prob...Expand for more
ably describe me as a control freak...and they are just so WRONG. I simply can't stand it when people won't make up their minds, talk a subject to death and then hmmm and hawww all over the place. That makes me nutty. It's not that I want to jump feet first but I have a knack for seeing shortcuts and efficient ways to accomplish goals without shortchanging anyone. We just actually get there on time and without hassles.
I have been a Brownie leader, PTO President, Volunteer of the Year, Newsletter editor for an elementary school, of course, volunteered for the Amvets Ladies Auxiliary so I feel that I am frequently forced to take charge when others won't step up to the plate. BUT, it is not my thing to be in charge...it just sort of happens to me...and it usually turns out pretty well. I really do prefer background stuff, though, lots more fun and lots less headaches.
So currently, I am in the process of divorce...way fun, right... living on my own with my daughter. She lives with me now but not for much longer.
I have started talking to someone and have realized that there is life after life... It's just so amazing this journey.
