Elaine's Story
Life
First of all, I attended school under the name of Donna Elaine Graiko. Later I found out that Donna was not my legal name...in case you wonder.
I am a painter and have been married for over 34 years to my husband Guiteau who was born in Haiti. I have lived in California, St.Louis, Maryland and now in Texas. Have been in Texas for 30 years and have made a living as a contemporary artist for most of those years full time.My 23 year old grandson has been like a son to us since birth and he is a joy! I love the Lord and came to know Him at a later age (1984). This year I rejoice that I am 75 years old which qualifies me for Medicare and social security benefits. I have not had health insurance for about 20 years so this is a nice perk for getting older.
My husband and I travel throughout the U.S. exhibiting our artwork at various juried events. Retirement is for others. We love to create artwork so will keep going until God makes other arrangements.
The one person from my past who I'd like to see again is toni fletcher martin, because she was a very dear friend of mine and I lost contact with he...Expand for more
r after she got married and I moved to California.
If I could improve my home, I'd remodel my garage and add on a studio. My dream home would be a place where I could work in a separate area and not pay for extra studio space. It would be near the ocean in an area not prone to hurricanes..(an oxymoron).
I really don't keep awards on a mantel except one small plexiglass first place painting award from Tulsa, OK. Ribbons and other awards are kept in a messy file drawer in my studio.
My oldest friend is Dollie from Oklahoma. I met her in 1969 when we worked together in southern California. We have kept in touch for 40 years and she always treated me in an accepting way no matter what bad decisions I made in my life. She gave me an unconditional sisterly type of love.
Another dear friend whom I have kept in contact with is Leota Johnson (Dodie). We connected on classmates and also keep in touch on Facebook. Just learned dear Leota passed away this month after suffering a stroke last summer and never fully recovering.
Just connected with Julie Lawson..so little by little remembering some classmates.
