Donna's Story

Life Where have I been? I finished college at West Liberty State College, Married for 28 years widowed for 25 years. Have two sons. 48 year old is an electrical engineer, airplane pilot and scuba diver, 46 year old is computer programmer. I worked for Verizon Communications for over 29 years and retired September 2001-eight days after 9-11. Retired as Executive Director at the Taneytown Chamber of Commerce in Maryland in 2010. My husband and I ran our own successful corporation Alpha Research Inc for 8 years. After he died I changed the business function from Abstracting to Telecommunications Consulting which I did while working for the chamber. During my career I was a small business counselor with the Women's Business Institute. I also obtained certification in Myers-Briggs and Project Management, I taught classes at Carroll Community College in behalf of the Women's Business Institute. Currently I am the leader of both a local Book Chat and Writer's...Expand for more
Circle. In Book Chat we discuss varieties of what we have read. (Not everyone reads the same book. We read and report back on what we have read to others.) The Writer's Circle began 2003 years ago as just people interested in writing. It has evolved into more. We share what we have written and welcome feed back. Several of our members are published authors, news writers for local newspapers, and magazine story authors for various clients. We welcome anyone interested in writing or reading in any form. I am now an author. "Find a Penny: A Financial Journey" and "S.O.S: Series of Occasionally Scary short stories." ,"Hidden" , "Puzzled" "By Chance or Choice- Destiny Calls" and recently "Guilty and Innocent" "A Captured Heart". Self published on Amazon.com. I am also back on the board of the Taneytown Chamber of Commerce, active with the Taneytown History Museum, and on the board for Grace United Church Daycare Center.
