Donna's Story
Life
I went to work the Monday after graduation at Temple-Stuart Co. in Baldwinville and worked there until around 73-74. Got married in June of 1972 to Ken Owens. Had our first child, Shannon, in September 1975 and was living in Baldwinville, right across the street from Gansett in mobile home---Go Figure!!!!! Sold that property in 1977 and moved to 8 Pond St., Gardner. Got a job at Almy's at Timpany Blvd., Gardner working parttime which eventually was fulltime until 1985. Our second child, Tim, was born in March 1979. Was hired in 1985 as Assistant Bookkeeper at The Winchendon School until 1987. Sold 8 Pond St., Gardner in June 1987 and moved to our brand new house at 91 Independence Dr., Winchendon and was hired by Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Corrections Department as Bookkeeper I in the Treasurer's Office at the Gardner Prison (which my husband started and opened as a Corrections Officer in 1981). o our lovely governor, Bill Weld, that wanted to make him look good to the voters of Mass. by cutting the budget of Massachusetts Corrections but little did they know that nothing was cut at all. Just made life bad for alot of the staff around the Commonwealth by making them travel close to 100 miles a day just to go to work!!!!)and was promoted to Clerk IV after arriving at the Secure Facilities Unit in Concord. Moved to 139 Berrington Rd., Leominster (townhouse)in July 1998. Retired in July 2001 from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and moved to our summer place in Old Orchard Beach until October 2001 and moved to our present residence, 968 Cheyenne Trail, Fort Myers Beach, Florida. We spend summers (mid May - mid Oct) in Old Orchard Beach which I work as Office Manager in the resort where we stay. Ken works for the Old Orchard Beach Police Department as the head of Parking Enforcement from May-Sept.
Needless to say, we have been blessed and are still be blessed and loving every single minute of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
