Donna's Story
Life
Updated: 6 August 2006
What an exciting journey! After HS went to White Plains- attended school and worked (waitressed and worked in dept stores).
After Berkeley stayed in the Westchester area for a couple years and worked in NYC at 550-5th Ave (GREAT job)! Moved to Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn for a yr. still wkg in Manhattan.
Old boyfriend from NY called from CO and said I would like it there and flew out for a wk. - I liked it very much and I met someone and within 2 wks- sold everything and settled in Evergreen, CO for 25 years.
My beautiful daughter, Nicole was born in Feb 1982. Her Dad and I moved back East (NY & NJ) for a year, then back to CO. I was a single Mom for about 8 years- Ahhh, the single life- it was great! But then at 38...
I met my husband at one of my daughter's soccer games; we moved to Greeley, CO for 5 years and then in 1997 we sold everything we owned and moved to Germany and here we currently reside! Meine mann est Deutch! (My husband is German)
I currently work for the the Dept of Defense. It seems that 5 yrs is a magic #- I get very bored and may need to do something different.
Looking to retire in Portugal- they speak English, Medical care is OK, and it is relatively inexpensive to live there. Oh, and it's WARM and friendly and still within relative proximity to other countries! Still alot of fantastic places to see and people to meet... It is nice to gain a global perspective- and it is reassuring that the world is getting smaller all the time.
I have been blessed with a very closeknit family-I have the BEST
sisters-all who are doing very well. In May 2005 I lost my only brother, David. Our children: My daughter Nicole (single) is back in Germany (for the 3rd time) working for and attending UMUC. My two step-daughters: Siobhan 25, is working for a law firm in Denver, CO going to college part time and is a new homeo...Expand for more
wner. Erika 28 and our 6 yr old grandson, Logan-Wade live in Darmstadt, Germany and she works for DOD (Dept of Defense).
Hoping to still be living, working and traveling in Europe for some time to come! I also enjoy driving my Jaguar on the Autobahn- I am not over the hill yet! If you come across the pond and are in the area of Heidelberg/ Mannheim- you are more than welcome to stay with me-lots to see and do!
Most recent news: Nicole and I went to The Rolling Stones World Tour- A Bigger Bang at the Gottlieb Daimler Stadium in Stuttgart, Germany! Totally Awesome- we had front row seats- and lots of pics and videos. WoW they are OLD!!!! But still put on a good show.
School
Everything was in the Yearbook!!! Of course there were a few things that weren't... Those were great times, and I am fortunate to have lived in the last of a "free" era.
One thing that stood out- was what an awsome sports team we had- even as Juniors we could kick some butt of the Seniors-especially in track!
College
Actually, this was an OK time socially (Barb Giglotti also attended), but I worked 6 nights a week and went to school-so I was glad to graduate. I graduated in the first class that offered the Fashion Merchandising and Business Management Course. It had alot of bugs to work out and by the time graduation came around I was so frustrated and disillusioned - I didn't even attend graduation! It opened some doors for me- and I met some great people there. One of my roomates and I are still close friends and that was all worth it just for that friendship.
Workplace
Can't possibly list everything, but major ones: 1. Formfit Rogers- 550-5th Ave, NY, NY -3 yrs. 2. Hayes & Soucie Land Surveyors in Evergreen, CO- 5 yrs. 3. Children's World Learning Ctrs in Corp. HQ in Golden, CO -5 yrs. 4. Managed a Mini Storage facility 5 yrs in Greeley, CO 5. Work for the Army in Germany 9 yrs.
