Donna's Story
Life
My husband and I have been married for seven years now and have three dogs. Though I miss my hometown, we live in Austin.
School
I had the pleasure in the last few years of seeing Ms. Polly Chevalier at a teacher conference. She was such an inspiration to me.
College
I graduated from Texas A&M University in College Station with an undergraduate degree in Political Science and a Teaching Certificate. I student taught in Tomball, Texas. After teaching for eight years, I went back to graduate school and graduated with a Masters degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Texas in Austin. I am now completing an internship for Professional Counselor License.
Workplace
After college, I taught geography for five years in Fort Bend ...Expand for more
ISD. I then worked in marketing and management for a tutoring and test prep company called SCORE! Prep (owned by Kaplan - a more well known company). I moved to Austin in 2001 and began working in Round Rock ISD (outside of Austin) in 2002. After attending graduate school part time while teaching, I stopped teaching and worked at Wells Fargo bank for a year while taking classes and exploring industrial psychology a little. I then went to school full time and worked on campus at UT in Austin for a school year. I even encountered a student from Sam Houston in my work there. I was thrilled to see her there. After completing my graduate degree, I started working as a school counselor in Del Valle ISD (outside of Austin). That is where I work today.
