Donna's Story
Life
I married my husband Barney on May 30, 1968. We had three children - a son and two daughters. Our son Barney Jr. retired from the Marines on May 31, 2011 after 20 years of service. He passed away in 2021 of Glioblastoma brain cancer. He is survived by our daughter-in-law Beverly and our 19 year old grandson who live in Virginia. Our oldest daughter Julie and son-in-law Marcus live in Reno, Nevada. Julie is an attorney with the Nevada State Supreme Court in Carson City. Our youngest daughter Jennifer lives in Las Vegas, Nevada with her 16 and 17 year old daughters.. Jen is a senior manager in the Food & Beverage department with MGM Corp and works at Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino. In 2006, after living in Sparks for 28 years, we moved to Henderson to be near our grandchildren. I retired from AT&T in 1998 after 24 years and enjoyed 4 years of retirement before deciding to return to the workforce as a Client Services Program Manger at a call center in Reno. igned from my job with West Corp in September of 2005 to be able to spend more time with our family (especially my grandchildren!) My husband is also retired. Due to health issues he now has we have not been able to do all the things we planned to do once we retired, but we enjoy traveling as much as possible, dining out with friends and family and we enjoy playing poker several times a week.. I also have a passion for hot air ballooning. For many years I was on the Board of Directors of the Great Reno Balloon Race and we sponsored a hot air balloon in the event every year. I go to the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta in October whenever I can and crew for some balloon pilot friends of ours. Another favorite of mine is going to Disneyland with our kids and grandkids. Don't think I'll ever outgrow my need for Disneyland trips!!! My mother passed away in July of 2012 at age 87 and my father passed away in 2020 at 95 years old. I would love to hear from other classmates.
