Donna's Story
Married for thirty five years and the mother of the two grown children, I began writing at the age of ten. My first success was winning a poetry contest in the third grade at, you got it, St. Mary's. From that moment forward, I realized that the written word was as vital to my survival as food and air, although in a battle with chocolate, M&Ms might win.
I continued to write all through my school years, but marriage and motherhood eventually intervened. My son's graduation from the University of Miami with a degree in theater and his subsequent success as a screen writer in Los Angeles awakened my desire for "more." I began writing poetry and short stories and am presently working on a semi-biographical work of fiction entitled "Private Hell," which I hope to finish by next summer. I a...Expand for more
m also putting the finishing touches on a murder mystery entitled, "800 Women," which features my daughter as a homicide detective.
My son and I just finished our first joint screenplay, which our agent is submitting to backers for approval. A number of my poems have appeared on the web site A Long Story Short, and I have been published in the Lucidity Journal. I write press releases for a documentary film company as well as the Burt Reynolds Institute for Film and Theatre. Each day inspires me...what I see, hear and experience....
