Donna's Story
To say the past year has been very difficult for us is putting it mildly. Almost losing my son in April, caring for him, and adjusting to his disabilities (physical and mental), has been hard on all of us.
Clayton continues to recover from his brain infection and subsequent strokes. He came out to California in July and we have been caring for him, which has kept me very busy. Clayton has multiple therapies (physical, occupational and speech), doctor appointments, and an upcoming surgery to put the bone back...Expand for more
in his head. That alone is big progress and will be a relief to have over. He continues to make small improvements that we praise God for.
I am also very thankful for the wonderful Veterans Affairs staff who worked so hard to get his service connection and rating that allows us to get the care he needs, including someone to come in and help take care of him while I work.
That said, I feel blessed that I have my job, my family, and friends that have all been so supportive while we have struggled through.
