Dorcas's Story
Life
Well, since I left Humes '64 the first thing I got was a JOB.....I should have gone on to college but I thought I was smart enough at the time...................lol Actually I came from a rather large family and I loved clothes and other nice things so I decided to go to work........I went to work at American Finishing Co. off third street for three years as a bookkeeper.............it was a plant that made material and I worked in one of the offices...........learned a lot about life....I had lived such a "sheltered" one..........my daddy was very strict and I missed out on so much while in school because of what he believed was sinful at the time........Thank God he finally mellowed out by the time some of the other kids left home........anyway, I moved out on my own with three other roommates. I never stopped going to my dad's church, I just changed a few things about myself that living under his roof would have certainly brought down his "wrath"..........you know like cutting my hair.......some have asked what happened to my ponytail.......well, I just tell them when I became of age(which was my freedom) I wracked that thing off and I haven't worn one since......it is kinda funny though because they are very much in style now......I got married in 1968.........married a preacher's son that had an upholstery business in Earle, AR.......I lived in Earle for about 14 years working at the elementary school....I moved to Wynne so my two sons would be more intellectually challenged and become "rocket" scientists or something I continued working for the school system for 19 years........anyway, it was a good move and both of my children are better citizens today than they would have been if I had not made this very import...Expand for more
ant decision.........I will also add that the church in Wynne was a larger congregation than in Earle and they had activities for the young people and I made sure my kids took advantage of all that they offered........as I said I have two sons.......I have five grandchildren between the two of them....my oldest son has three boys and my younger son has a boy and "bless her heart" a daughter that is beautiful from head to toe.........even at five just ask her anything about God or the Bible and I think you would be very impressed with how knowledgeable this child is about these subjects.......they live in NH so I don't get to see them but once or twice a year...........however, we keep in touch via phone.........
my first marriage ended in divorce after 19 years and I remarried in '89.......my husband is gainfully employed by Centerpoint energy as a senior leak surveyer.........I love to coordinate our mini gathers for the gang.........we have some fun times....we even have pictures to prove it so we warn the gang we are not responsible if one ends up in a book or something like Rita and the committee members for the reunion made..........Rita did such a fantastic job......I refer to mine often........lest I forget I have a pet.........it is a rat terrier.........black and white........cute as a button and is just my baby.......he is so spoiled but I will gladly take all the blame for that......his name is Pepper.........well, I could go on and on and on but I think this has probably already exceeded the "recall" in my brain so I guess I'll just leave you with wishing you all good health, love and keep in touch........if you haven't signed on this website please do so.......always a thrill to find someone else in our class......
