Doris's Story

Please join me on Facebook where I have posted a link to my website... I have always been very shy and wear a veil, most of the time, to conceal the pain I carried most of my life. But, as we all know, there is a reason for all things. The most important thing is to learn from our past; and I have learned a lot from mine and have become a much stronger person because of it. I have three children--two who live here and one who lives in High Point, NC, where I lived for many years. I moved back to SC in 2000 and I hope to never move again unless God plans something else for me. My oldest, Chris, is the father of my grandson, Trace. They live in High Point. My middle child, April, lives in Easley with her husband and three of her children: Hannah, Cayden, and Caleb. Her oldest, Michael, lives in Clemson with his dad. My youngest child, Jamie, lives in downtown Greenville and goes to college. I lost both of my parents to cancer. I was only 37 when my mother died at age 66 of breast cancer. o SC has brought a lot of healing to my heart. Finally, I feel I have come back home. Another way I have discovered restoration in my life is my passion for writing poetry. I have written over 500 poems and 40 plus song lyrics since 2006 and do my best work when I feel someone needs to be uplifted in some way. I have given over 150 framed poems to people as gifts. This is God's gift to me and I feel I must share it. It has proven to truly be one of my greatest blessings. I sometimes have people request a poem to be written especially for someone they know as a thank-you gift. I always look forward to writing it, as it gives me so much pleasure to help someone else. Giving is totally more rewarding than receiving. I am also in the middle of writing a book, if anyone out there would like to lend a hand to help me in some way. I would appreciate all the help I can get. I know there are some really talented people out there who went to school with me. Let me hear from you!! Thanks for listening.
