Doris's Story
I hope old friends remember me as ... a nice person who was always there to help out and just listen.
A LITTLE KNOWN FACT ABOUT MYSELF: I always wanted to be a nun when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a cRaZy idea. As it turns out, they were wrong ... because I would have made a great nun! Yes, I would have! And not just any nun ... but a cloistered one! I truly missed my calling!
I blow off steam through ... meditation and prayer ... and by remembering that "this too shall pass". Everything always looks a little brighter the next day, so I just give it a little time!
The wildest thing I ever did in school ... was skip school to drink sloe gin in a 7-Up can at a volleyball game in Coupland ... then stood up and promptly fell down the bleachers. Yep! That's what peer pressure will do to you when you let your guard down! LOL Thanks a lot, Gloria and Keith!
If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have a computer, a little quiet desk in a corner somewhere, and permission to decorate my little space any way I like ... and then I will work my butt off for you!
My personal hero ... is my mother. She's a survivor to the nth degree ... and she never loses her faith or her optimism! She truly is my best friend and I love her mucho!
I have visited many places, but there are just a few places that I could call home! I joined the Army right out of high school and lived in Germany for two years! I have also lived in South Carolina, Alabama, and Wisconsin if you count two months or more as living there ... but most of my life has been spent righ...Expand for more
t here in the Lone Star state!
A person from our class that I most admire is ... NANCY LUNDGREN HOYT! She was on the "Amazing Race" ... one of my favorite shows ... and she was absolutely amazing! She showed a lot of courage and spunk, and I can't wait to hear more details about her experiences.
It's true that life doesn't always turn out the way we expect, and one of my biggest surprises has been my marriage to RICKY! We married when I was 25 and he was 26 ... and three kids later we are still very much in love and, in many ways, a perfect match! He truly is my best friend!
The teachers I would most like to see (35 years later) is Cathy Cates and Coach Loesch. It was a sad day when Betty Rivers and Thelma Harrison passed away! I would also like to see Papa Jack! I have had the greatest blessing in being able to spend quality time with Dorothy Doolittle over the past several years and really get to know her as a person, and I can honestly say that she is one of my bestest and dearest friends.
The weirdest job I ever had ... was when I worked as an ammunition specialist at an ammunition supply point in Germany for two years! I got to blow things up and that was pretty cool ... and I got to step outside my comfort zone and learn something different.
My oldest friend is Beverly Fojtik ... but I don't get to see her very often. She lives in my childhood town of Edna, Texas.
And that's enough for now! If you really want to know a little more about me ... check out my profile on MySpace or Facebook. Just do a search on "dorisfaye" and request to be my friend.
