Dorothy's Story
After a wonderful 2 years at Colby (1945-1947), where I met my (future) husband Bob (at Dartmouth)) I went on to MacMurray College in Illinois. In Sept. 1948 I married Bob & we went to Denmark where he had signed up for the American Graduate School at the Univ. in Copenhagen. We returned home (after some meandering around Europe !) and I finished my B.A. at MacMurray.and Bob took graduate courses. We settled in Connecticut, where Bob became a school psychologist in Waterbury. I ended up taking graduate courses and eventually got my Master in Library Science and an M.A. in Education for the Gifted. I taught one year in grade school and 11 years as a librarian at a technical school. ook another library position at Robert College in Istanbul, Turkey. In 1984 we returned home for a few years and then I took a library position at the American School in Japan, outside of Tokyo (1988-1994.) We traveled a bit in Asia but returned home to "settle down" - again !. .Our oldest son is also in education, worked in Greece while we were in Turkey, and is now Librarian at the Montissori Magnet School in Hartford, Our daughter is married, with 2 sons (one at Middlebury College), living in Bethlehem, PA. Our other son is living here with me. Unfortunately, Bob died 4 years ago of pneumonia complications - age 83 1/2. I miss him terribly, but we had a such a fantastically good life together, with no regrets and so many happy memories...! I still enjoy the memories of those earliest days at Colby and Dartmouth..Enjoy hearing news from and about Colby !
