Dorothy's Story
In 1959, I moved from Ebony Lane and to 359 Azalea Street and attended Garden Oaks Elemenntary. From there I atteneded Black Jr. High. I used to ride the Public Bus for 10 Cents there and many times walked home with someone and we would stop at Palais Royale or Kressage. At the soda fountain in Kressage, I would get burned peanuts, (candy) and a cherry drink with just carbonated water. Can't remember how to spell it. After Black Jr. High, I attended Waltrip. Most of the time my friend's mother would drive us to Waltrip. I took dancing lessons from Patsy Swaze and remember the boys playing. I was in first grade and attended Stevens's Elementary. When we moved, I was not happy and sat in the back of class and did nothing, so I had to repeat Low 3rd, which then made me a mid-termer. Wh...Expand for more
en I moved to Slidell La. I had to be moved back a half of grade because they did not have mid-termers. I was very unhappy about that. My best friends in Elementary, were Karen Stepp, Karent Boelshche (she has passed from cancer) and Donna Lewis. Sandra Hunter lived across the street and we spent almost every day together. She was a year ahead of me in school. We keep in contact even today and have visited her in Houston. I was transferred to Houston from 1994-1997 with my job Equifax Mrotgage Services and they consolidated so I was let go. I had 10 yearss with Equifax. From there I went to work for CCCS both in Houston and then in OKC (1997-2002) when my husband got transfered. I am now back in Slidell la. Would love to hear from students that remember me.
