Doug's Story
Sept 16, 2009 - - OK friends and visitors, I keep putting off doing something with this silly website, but I went to the trouble to upgrade to "gold" so I guess I need to do something. As most of the Lawsonites know, I went to UM-Rolla, completed a petroleum engr degree and worked drilling oil wells in southern Illinois. In 1983, I married Rinda Roberts and in 1986 I enrolled in the graduate program at University of Kansas, completing a MS in mechanical engineering and headed back to Illinois to work for Caterpillar in 1989. Been with Cat ever since working out of offices in East Peoria, Peoria Illinois, Wamego Kansas and currently in Aurora Illinois. Left engineering and went to marketing in 1993 and never looked back. Currently hold a Marketing Professional position at Caterpillar, helping customers configure and optimize their machines' performance with normal and specialty attachments (buckets, thumbs, couplers). uite a bit in this work, visiting Australia, China, Turkey, Italy, France, Holland, Canada, Brazil and the US. Rinda and I have 3 little blessings who were little 9 years ago when we moved to Aurora, but they grow so amazingly fast... in that 9 years I have watched my 9 yr old little girl turn into an 18 year old young woman. A sobering thought..., makes me feel old to think about it. As of this writing, my boys are 16 and 13. I hope to return to this page and continue the story and post some photos. It's hard to find the time.... We'll see.. maybe when I retire. BTW, bought a new GT mustang to celebrate turning 50. If you're from class of '77 you know how it feels. Would love to hear from some of the other 77'ers... or write and say hi to Rinda.
January 08 2010 - Happy New Year! I've moved all my activity (which wasn't much) over to Facebook. Better for social networking and I don't have to endure at all the stupid singles ads.
