Doug's Story
After Glenelg I was an engineering co-op student at NASA in Huntsville, AL, and attended Auburn University. I graduated with a degree in Aerospace Engineering in 1969. I joined ROTC in college and served in the Army on active duty at Ft. Bliss, TX. After Ft. Bliss I continued with graduate school under NASA sponsorship, receiving a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from UA-Huntsville in 1982. ency, but since then I still do consulting work a couple of days a week. I also served in the Army Reserve and National Guard and entered the retired reserve as a Major in the 1980s. Recently my wife and I purchased a home near the Gulf Coast in Alabama. I plan to teach some aerospace engineering courses at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, AL in 2015. I have been married since 1973 to my wife Manette, a retired middle school teacher. We have 2 grown and married sons (now in their 30s - a college coach and a Navy submarine officer) and 5 grandchildren.
