Doug's Story
Life
I've got three beautiful kids. Brooke is going to be a sophomore in HS this year (and driving in the fall---yikes!!!!). Blake is going to be a 7th grader and can't wait for football to start. He went to camp this summer and got some good instruction on O-line (7th grader is about 5-10 and 155). My youngest, Madison is going into 5th grade and is as smart as a whip. Also an All-star FP softball pitcher in the making.
School
If I could do it all over again, I'd have gone to school the first time to be a teacher. After toiling in the business world for a few years, I went back and got my teaching degree and I love it.
College
My god, college was a real struggle for me. Having kids and college makes it rough. Needless to say it took me about 5 years to get through THE FIRST TIME. Then I decided to go back to school and get my education degree. Well, NOW I am in grad school. Sheesh, and it's not like I haven't attended enough schools.

Workplace
Teaching is something that I've alway...Expand for more
s wanted to do, and now that I am finally doing it, I couldn't be happier. Most of my colleagues are great people that are interested in helping kids as much as I am. I love the subjects that I teach, as I can open up my students minds to things they hadn't thought about before, and also prepare them for their next level of education.
I am in my first summer off from teaching and I must say it's awesome. I've got tons of extra time to spend with the kids and it allows me to do what I love. I coached little league baseball for many years on my son's teams. Well, when I started my student teaching, someone recommended that I check out the softball team as they needed some help. Now I am hooked on the game, but one warning, it's nothing like baseball----that's for sure. I am now the head coach of the SOPH. team at Davenport North HS. The team is young right now, but the future is bright as I have a bunch of 6-7-8th graders that can bring it on the mound, and knock the cover off the ball at bat. Living through the growing pains will be a test though.
