Doug's Story
Life
I never left the area. Travelled west as far as Muscatine once...got scared, and turned back. I did move to Bettendorf, "Iowa's Most Exciting City," when I got remarried in 2001. I have two children (Jeff and Michelle) from my first marriage, and was gifted two more (Gabrielle and Grace) in my second marriage. Jeff has made me a grandpa without even asking me. I've been a bio-med tech since 1983 at Mercy Hospital/Genesis Medical Center West in Davenport. I'm a collector of junk such as phonograph records, school yearbooks, toys, advertising, postcards, local historical memorabilia, sports collectibles, ephemera, sheet music, concert posters, bicycles,...Expand for more
jukeboxes, radios, phonographs, and many more items too numerous to mention. Mostly I like to swap money for things that most people find worthless. I put on a record collector's show for fifteen years in the Quad Cities, but have dropped that responsibility. I taught various subjects at Scott Community College for a while including algebra, digital electronics, and four or five other subjects. I dabble in writing, and am trying to get some of the four or five books I've started finished. That's about it. Pretty boring I suppose. My favorite past time perhaps is thinking about the wonderful childhood I had and reconnecting with people who made it that way.
