Douglas's Story

Life The bio exists -- try school or colleges, maybe even work. Perhaps an update is needed, but that is "construction in progress". Hope everyone is well. School Well, why I am doing this is beyond my usually sound judgement. However, and, of course, this is subject to change, and more than likely, change quite frequently. After graduating from Sullivan, I headed off to the University of Chicago and to take on the world, or the "Real World" (as compared to that fluff you see on MTV; admittedly, I have seen a few episodes). I spent the better part of my tumultuous college career working at Sidley & Austin as an intern. FYI, for those who don't remember me well, or didn't have to endure me during Mock Trials, I once had aspirations of being the next great corporate lawyer or a prosecuting attorney w/aspirations of a political career. I can thankfully say that I was given some timely advice by my then mentor, who advised me to head off into the world of investment banking. Note: I have not completely given up on the latter point, or rather, my political aspirations. Upon graduation, I packed my meager belongings and moved to NYC and prepared for what now is my career. I began working for Morgan Stanley in 1993, starting out in the Two-Year Financial Analyst Program, working in investment banking. Somehow, I never did follow the rules on the two-year part, and have been here ever since. Proudly, as I didn't ever imagine it when I entered the Firm, I am now a Managing Director (Partner in lawyer parlance). The big city that I lovingly refer to as Gotham is now home. I must admit, however, that I miss Gyros, Steak Burritos and Italian Beefs -- none, of which, you can locate in NYC with the same brilliance as that of the Windy City. Proudly, I have also remained a die-hard Chicago Bulls fan; I have encountered many death threats from angry Knicks fans over the years. Lastly, on a personal note, I remain single and haven't gotten married; perhaps due, in large part, to the focus that I have given to my career over the last 10 years. Needless to say, if you're going to be single in any city, Manhattan is a great place to enjoy that period of your life. On the other hand, the city's demands on anyone, make it terribly difficult to have or raise a family. Notably, if you did read my life profile, I would love to have kids despite all the fun that this city has to offer this bachelor. I...Expand for more
guess that means that I will have to grow up...someday. I often think fondly of many of you(I would say all of you, but then someone would just have to say that I am politicking already for my future political seat) and of time and memories that we shared and created during our time at Sullivan. Lastly, I hope to hear about what all of you (yes, I said all of you) are doing and about what you've done over the years. Take care and Happy Holidays to each of you and those close to you; may 2004 be prosperous in all ways imaginable.
