Douglas's Story
Life
I joined the Navy when I left Williamsburg. Richard Buckmaster and I went to bootcamp together but after that we went our separate ways. I spent time in pensacola, FL and then went to Midway Island. My next duty station was NAS North Island in VAW121. From there I went to Hawaii and served on a WW2 Destroyer the USS Radford DD446 where we did MarketTime Patrols off the coast of Vietnam. From there i went to Pensacola again and spent four years on the Navy Rifle Team. After that I served on the USS Guadalcanal LPH7, NAS Norfolk Va and finished up as a plank owner on the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower CVN69.
After leaving the Navy I worked for the Medical College of Virgini...Expand for more
a in Cardiovascular Physiology developing research equipment used in high blood pressure and hypertension studies. I left medical research because the grants ran out and got a job with an international electrical company called Weidmuller Inc. I spent seven years as their Electronic Products Manager but got very tired of the time I had to spend in europe so I left there and started an electronics manufacturing company called Assembly & Design, Inc.
I've retired from the company and my son and daugther are running it now but I come in to help most days. I also travel around the country teaching marksmanship and own an 86 Harley but never seem to have time to ride it.
