Douglas's Story
Four years in the Navy (1964-1968)-3 ý years on the USS Constellation- 3 tours of Vietnam waters. Six years in college and university and first marriage. Graduated from San Francisco State Univ. 1974. Dropped out of grad school to take a hiatus to Hawaii in 1975, got divorced, never got back to grad school. Left Hawaii in 1976, spent 2 years traveling and sailing around the world-sailed across the Atlantic in 27' foot sloop with one other guy. Hung out in the Caribbean, Paris and Ireland. Ended up in Thailand for 9 years. Worked in Thai film and television industry as actor, translator, assistant director and agent for six years, got married and opened an American coffee shop in Bangkok. Went belly up in the business and returned to Maui with my Thai wife and step-kids in 1986. Worked as Chef, taxi driver and furniture sales. Joined up with Kinko's in 1998. Retired in 2004. d where we have a house and a couple of pieces of property. Was chairman of foreign language department of private school. Needed more cash for projects with our properties. Returned to the US--Davis, CA and came out of retirement. Managed FedEx Office (formerly Kinko's) center in South Sacramento. Have 6 grandkids on Maui, one in Thailand and an adopted niece in Thailand. Retired again on August 15th 2013
Moved back to Thailand via Maui in September for one final retirement. After 6 months my wife came down with cancer and we returned to Maui to live with our son and grandkids while she underwent chemo. Chemo didn't take and we returned to our home in Thailand in November 2014, Sang passed away on January 4, 2015. You can view her life in photos on her FaceBook page (Sangchan Bull).
