Douglas's Story
Life
What a long strange trip it's been and continues to be.... Left Puyallup in 1973 when I joined the Navy and have only been back off and on through the past years. Since retiring from the Navy in 1993, I thought I would settle down and live a normal civilian life. Well, that hasn't been true as I am still on the move.
I have been back in the US for 5 years now and am currently in Louisville, KY after living in Stratford-Upon-Avon in the United Kingdom for 2 years. I had been working in Europe for the previous 3 years where I lead an international team setting up a distribution network throughout 17 countries.
Most importantly, I am a cancer survivor and try to live every day to it's fullest extent. Went through it - surgery, chemo, radiation and the residual side effects and will gladly support anyone that ends up dealing with...Expand for more
this nasty disease.
Workplace
I am just returning from another Special Assignment in Europe again for 8 months (2010-2011) assisting with new start up operations for Health Care companies and their global distribution needs. Back in Louisville, KY again where I still live. Previous job locations since retiring from the Navy have included Knoxville, Birmingham, and Cincinnati then off to Europe and now here in Louisville.
Prior to my life in logistics I was in the US Navy for 20 years.
Military
Completed 20 years in the Navy and retired in 1993 as a Command Master Chief.
I was an Ocean Systems Technician (Analyst) which really means I was an underwater acoustic analyst in the Anti-Submarine Warfare group working with SOSUS and IUSS.
I am also a graduate of the U.S. Army Seargent's Major Academy at Ft Bliss, El Paso, TX. Class 31.
